Pull up a stool so we can get acquainted. Hi! My name is Cynthia. Let me help you find passion in your every day life. I’m a culinary enthusiast, treasure hunter, writer, gardener, photographer, and artisan soap maker. I’ll hit the brakes for estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets, and antique shops. I’m madly in love with my husband of over twenty-five years who puts up with my whims. We treat our dogs and cats as children. And, I have a small flock of laying hens, “the girls” for the wonderful eggs they produce.
Living in a remote area of central Idaho makes it a tad difficult to run to the mall or to one of those super-sized stores to shop, or to hit a restaurant chain to satisfy a craving. I’ve learned to become resourceful. I’ve also learned to live at a different pace from that of the city fast track. Yet there’s richness in my lifestyle that can’t be “bought” or influenced by the latest trends. I’d like to share some of this with you. And by the way, I’m no country bumpkin!
Several years ago, I traded Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, and Audi for Woolrich, Merrell, Tribal and Chevrolet. My husband and I woke up one morning and came to the realization we had lost ourselves and who we truly were as human beings. Each day we were facing gridlock instead of griddle cakes. Our time was spent on building superficial relationships, not real ones.
Usually one just hops in the car and runs to the store if the milk bottle is empty. Or you might run out of the house because of a three day super sale at a department or electronics store (which ends up taking a big chunk out of your day off, not to mention your wallet, plus the time it takes in traffic). Aside from an independent grocer, those places are 160 miles away!
Does anyone slow down to breathe anymore? Everyone’s multi-tasking. It’s all about the cell phones, talking, texting, iPads, and personal computers. Rarely does anyone look up to exchange a smile, or acknowledge someone in need. When was the last time you noticed if any flowers were blooming in your yard? The last time you baked and decorated a special birthday cake for a loved one from scratch? I bet you don’t have the time, or maybe you don’t know how to, or both. Are you squeezed financially and don’t know how to live more with less, and still keep up with the Jones? Been there, done that.
We’re only guaranteed this one moment in time. If you were to live the life of your dreams, what would it be? Somewhere along the way, we’ve allowed others to shape our destiny. Is there an inner voice trying to tell you there’s more to life?
I’ve found peace and quality in my life. I’ve defined who I am. Not by other’s expectations, but through authenticity. I would like to share my little patch in the world with you. Maybe you will find inspiration, ideas, and wisdom.
Can you hear the silence and laughter all at once? Can you smell something baking in the oven or the fragrance of fresh flowers? Can you hear the fire crackling?
Join me on the road of discovery to passionate living. I’ll give you some time-saving and budget-friendly tips along the way. It all begins here, in the heartbeat of my log home kitchen. Stop by anytime. The door is always open.
