Easter and Spring are a cause for celebration. It’s a birth to a new season of offerings in this thing called life. We awaken from the dormancy of winter past with an energized spirit. Stirrings of change are taking place that can’t be denied. Even here at The Log Home Kitchen.
Do you find yourself with a “spring” in your step? Maybe with a bit more energy to take on a new day? I know I sure do. Birds are singing. Water is trickling from winter snowfall. March winds sweep through the air with invigorating crispness, dispersing seeds of change. All of this renewal stimulates the soul to reach new heights. Even the “girls” are in the groove again. So much so that there’s been an over-abundance of egg laying going on. Hallelujah!
They’re really delivering the goods this year…finally…with a spectacle of natural colors. I’m so proud of them.
I had to step away and take a break from blogging this past month. There had been a nagging pull that weighed heavily on my heart. It prevented me from cooking, baking, taking pictures, writing. After much reflection, and an over-extended stay from Jack Frost, that “ah-ha” moment arrived that put everything into perspective. When I started The Log Home Kitchen in 2014, it was merely an outlet to share my love as a culinary enthusiast and shutterbug. I came to the realization that it’s so much more.
In the world of blogging, it seems everyone is scrambling to “get it right.” Branding, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), building traffic, creating a high profile on social media channels, and analytics are some of the key topics that the blogosphere is focused on. So much time and effort go into these “back-end” forces that, in reality (at least in my reality), take away from the true essence and purpose of blogging. It’s exhausting. And, it compromises authenticity. I was starting to fall into that trap. There, I said it.
After stepping back, I started asking myself about how the direction and path in my life can help to inspire others. With that came the admission of a need to break out of my introverted shell and share the challenges and passions that have helped shape the wondrous joys that I am so blessed to experience each and every day. All of which extends way beyond just food. I’ve touched on other subjects here and there. Nothing in depth. You see, it’s that personal side where things get vulnerable. But it’s vulnerability which allows us to open up and share the true stories that shape our lives.
I’ve got a lot in store that will hopefully ignite passion in your life, to give you new ideas, to make you feel maybe you’re not alone in your own challenges, or to simply bring a smile to your day. And food…recipes…of course! Absolutely!
The Log Home Kitchen is where I nourish family and friends. I create here. I laugh here. I heal here.
